Job summary

The Law Office of Bryan Fagan is seeking a seasoned Assistant Controller to lead our financial operations across multiple Texas offices, ensuring fiscal discipline, accurate budgeting, and compliant financial reporting in a fast-paced legal environment.

You will supervise accounting staff, manage month-end close for multi-entity operations, partner with department heads to monitor expenses against budget allocations, and provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Hands-on ownership of multi-entity or multi-location month-end close.
• Experience working in a law firm or similar services industry is highly desirable.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel experience (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
• Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Clio or similar legal practice management software is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
• Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

• Oversee all accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Lead financial operations and provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
• Supervise accounting professionals and collaborate with department heads to monitor expenses against budget allocations and optimize resource utilization.
