Job summary

Insero is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the CAS team in Rochester, NY. The role involves leading month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting across multiple nonprofit engagements.

You will analyze GL activity, assist with budgeting and planning, and coordinate with clients, auditors, and external partners. We value strong communication, client service mindset, and the ability to manage multiple engagements while supervising staff.

Qualifications

• Associate’s in Accounting required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• 4+ years accounting experience with nonprofit exposure.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, Intacct, and Bill.com strongly preferred.
• CPA/CMA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support full accrual month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, A/P, A/R, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Analyze and clean up general ledger activity to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with cash flow, disclosures, budgeting, and annual planning.
• Communicate directly with clients and coordinate with auditors and external partners.
• Improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and help upgrade or implement accounting systems.
• Supervise staff as needed.
