Job summary

Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc. seeks an Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls for a unit generating over $500 million in revenue.

This role reports to the finance leadership and supervises accounting personnel. You will drive monthly closes, manage cash and banking activities, ensure strong internal controls, and partner with external auditors while identifying and mitigating financial risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
• CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive management experience in accounting and finance within the construction industry.
• Strong Excel skills; experience with JD Edwards, Hyperion, and Essbase.
• Hands-on, team-based, strategic and tactical.
• Excellent oral and written communication; able to interact with all levels.
• Able to work under minimal supervision; proactive.
• Multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical reporting and data-to-insights capability.
• Detail-oriented with delegation and high-quality output.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across the business unit for all accounting and controllership operations.
• Lead monthly close process for construction operations with GAAP reporting and variance analysis.
• Oversee cash management, collections, disbursements, forecasting and reporting to the parent company.
• Maintain internal controls and SOX compliance; liaise with external auditors.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation, and productivity in the finance function.
• Maintain technical accounting knowledge including revenue recognition and change orders.
• Provide executives with timely financial insights and actionable recommendations.
• Lead special projects and ad hoc initiatives as needed.
