Job summary

Southern Impression Homes seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead monthly closes, deliver financial reporting, and support the VP of Finance. This role will drive ASC 606 revenue recognition, collaborate with construction teams, and coordinate audits with external auditors.

You will mentor the accounting team, develop controls, and improve processes while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close processes, audits, and technical accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne preferred.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with journals, reconciliations, and financial statement reviews.
• Prepare and analyze monthly reporting packages and variance analyses for leadership.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and supporting documentation.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for significant accounting areas.
• Lead revenue recognition analyses under ASC 606 with contract reviews.
• Account for general contractor contracts, including owner billings and change orders.
• Collaborate with Operations and Construction teams to ensure accurate project costs.
• Review job cost activity, margins, and related construction accounting entries.
• Document accounting treatment for complex transactions and new contracts.
• Support cash flow reporting and management reporting.
• Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automation in accounting.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members.
• Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and acquisitions.
