Job summary

JCPenney seeks a Senior Assistant Buyer for Dresses to support daily purchasing for a division sub-category, reporting to the division Buyer and coordinating with vendors. You will build and analyze reports, manage purchase orders, validate item setup, and collaborate across functions to optimize pricing, assortment and inventory.

The role requires strong Excel skills, 3+ years in retail buying, and the ability to manage a heavy workload with urgency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent business experience.
• 3+ years retail buying experience; preferably with a large organization in a similar role.
• Retail planning experience preferred.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and quantify market trends.
• Results oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
• Able to independently organize and prioritize broad workload to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and analyze reports to support the business (MicroStrategy, Item/Color, Hindsight, Buy Plan, Conceptual Plan).
• Understand financial levers and their impact on sales, profit, and inventory metrics.
• Create purchase orders/work orders for flagship and stores; validate set-up, vendor information and ship dates.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and establish external partnerships.
• Manage marketing samples, ad tracking, and store counts; conduct digital inventory audits.
• Provide input on pricing determinations and assist with assortment planning.
