Job summary

JCPenney is seeking a Sr. Assistant Buyer for Womens products to support daily purchasing for a division’s sub-category. You will report to the division Buyer or Sr. Buyer and coordinate with vendors and internal buyers to ensure accurate buying processes and on-time item setup.

The role emphasizes retail math, pricing impact, and collaboration across teams to optimize sales, margins, and inventory while supporting flagship and store initiatives.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent business experience.
• 3+ years retail buying experience; preferably with a large organization in a similar role.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to recognize, analyze and quantify market trends.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and analyze reports to support the business (MicroStrategy, Item/Color, Hindsight, Buy Plan, Conceptual Plan).
• Understand financial levers and impact to sales, profit, and inventory metrics.
• Create purchase orders and manage vendor information and timing.
• Cross-functional collaboration and external partnerships.
• Manage marketing samples and ad tracking for store counts and timing.
