Job summary

Labconco is seeking an experienced Assembly Department Manager to lead our Assembly operations and support department leaders in achieving production, quality, safety, and efficiency goals.

You will coordinate daily manufacturing activities, drive continuous improvement, and foster a positive, accountable team culture. Strong leadership, union experience, and process improvement skills are essential as you partner with engineering and production to optimize performance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; technical or manufacturing field preferred.
• 4+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Experience leading teams in production, assembly, or industrial ops.
• Union leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and development skills.
• Experience with production planning, processes, quality systems, and CI.
• Analytical, decisive, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Assembly leaders and teams to meet schedules and quality standards.
• Drive schedule conformance, productivity, cost control, safety, and CI initiatives.
• Monitor production flow, material shortages, and delivery challenges; adjust as needed.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and other departments to improve processes.
• Support and mentor Assistant Department Managers and other leaders.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and open communication.
• Facilitate problem-solving, Kaizen events, and CI efforts in Assembly.
• Ensure safety, policy, and regulatory compliance; manage staffing and training.
• Plan staffing, training, employee development, and succession; manage budgets.
