YOUR MISSION

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Assembly Integration & Test Technician to support mechanical assembly, integration, and environmental test operations for component and system level hardware. This role is split between hands on mechanical integration, installing mechanical components, building sub-assemblies, and supporting build activities, and environmental test operations, including component-level and thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience across mechanical build/integration and test, with strong hands-on experience maintaining vibration (vibe) tables and TVAC chambers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Integration & Assembly
  • Install mechanical components and build sub-assemblies per engineering drawings, work instructions, and travelers
  • Perform mechanical assembly, integration, and disassembly of components, subsystems, and system-level hardware
  • Fabricate, install, and align test fixtures and ground support equipment (GSE)
  • Support build activities during down time between test campaigns, including fit checks, hardware prep, and staging
  • Work closely with engineering to resolve fit, tolerance, or build issues during integration
Test Operations & Facility Support
  • Set up, operate, and support component level environmental testing, including vibration, shock and thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration support, and troubleshooting on vibration tables/shakers and TVAC chambers
  • Install and connect test instrumentation (accelerometers, thermocouples, etc.) and support data acquisition setup
  • Support facility upkeep, including LN2/GN2 systems, vacuum pumps, and chamber controllers
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve hardware/test anomalies during live test operations
Other
  • Follow and help refine procedures, travelers, and work instructions, document results, anomalies, and non-conformances
  • Maintain calibration records and equipment logs for test facility compliance
  • Mentor junior technicians on assembly, integration, and test practices
  • Adhere to cleanroom protocols, ESD handling requirements, and safety procedures at all times
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or technical certification in a relevant field preferred
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical integration, assembly, and test, including:
  • Mechanical component installation and sub-assembly build
  • Component-level environmental testing
  • Thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing
  • Vibration testing (sine, random, shock)
  • Demonstrated hands on experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration support on vibration tables/shakers and TVAC chambers
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Experience with precision hand tools, torque tools, and mechanical assembly techniques
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as chamber controllers, vacuum systems, data acquisition systems, and shaker controllers
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Test, and Supply chain.
  • Ability to accurately document build activities, test setups, and anomalies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite hardware environments
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and ESD-sensitive handling
  • Experience with cryogenic systems (LN2) and high/low vacuum systems
  • Forklift, crane, or hoist certification
  • Experience mentoring or leading junior technicians
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to work in cleanroom and lab environments, including exposure to cryogenic materials and vacuum systemsWillingness to work flexible hours during test campaigns, including occasional off-shift or weekend work as needed
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods as needed
