Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior SYNON/AS400 Developer to design, develop, and support critical applications in an AS400 environment. You will work with analysts, leads, QA, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions across the software lifecycle.

In this role you will define technical solutions, prepare designs and estimates, and develop using RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON. You will participate in testing, deployments, and post-implementation activities to ensure stable delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in AS400/IBM i development environments.
• Hands-on expertise with RPGLE and RPGILE programming.
• Proficiency in CLLE development and system-level programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications using SYNON.
• Ability to participate in the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business analysts and technical leads to clarify requirements and define technical solutions.
• Analyze business needs and prepare technical designs, estimates, and development plans.
• Develop, review, and enhance applications using AS400 technologies including RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON.
• Create and execute unit test plans, resolve defects, and support QA and regression testing activities.
• Support deployments, production releases, and post-implementation activities to ensure stable and successful solution delivery.
