Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior SYNON/AS400 Developer to design, develop, and support business-critical AS400 applications. You will collaborate with business analysts, technical leads, QA, and stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle.

You will work on RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON, create unit tests, resolve defects, and assist deployments and post-implementation support. This remote role is open to qualified applicants in the United States, with potential in Richardson, TX.

Qualifications

• Strong experience working in AS400/IBM i development environments.
• Hands-on expertise with RPGLE and RPGILE programming.
• Proficiency in CLLE development and system-level programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications using SYNON.
• Ability to participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business analysts and technical leads to clarify requirements and define technical solutions.
• Analyze business needs and prepare technical designs, estimates, and development plans.
• Develop, review, and enhance applications using AS400 technologies including RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON.
• Create and execute unit test plans, resolve defects, and support QA and regression testing activities.
• Support deployments, production releases, and post-implementation activities to ensure stable and successful solution delivery.
