Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior SYNON/AS400 Developer to design, develop, and support business-critical applications in an AS400 environment. You will collaborate with analysts, leads, QA, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions across the software lifecycle.

Based in a remote-capable role, applicants in the United States are welcome; travel may be minimal. The position emphasizes hands-on RPGLE/RPGILE/CLLE and SYNON development, with responsibility from design through production

Qualifications

• Strong experience working in AS400/IBM i development environments.
• Hands-on expertise with RPGLE and RPGILE programming.
• Proficiency in CLLE development and system-level programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications using SYNON.
• Ability to participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business analysts and technical leads to clarify requirements and define technical solutions.
• Analyze business needs and prepare technical designs, estimates, and development plans.
• Develop, review, and enhance applications using AS400 technologies including RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON.
• Create and execute unit test plans, resolve defects, and support quality assurance and regression testing activities.
• Support deployments, production releases, and post-implementation activities to ensure stable and successful solution delivery.
