Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Architecture Operations & Governance Lead to own governance for Merchant Services Acquiring. You will drive architecture review boards, maintain ADRs, and enforce standards across product and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes data sensitivity, AI-enabled analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with senior engineers, product managers, and program managers. You will influence decisions without formal authority, reduce overhead, and enhance transparency

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Experience in architecture governance and operations in a complex technology organization.
• Strong understanding of architecture artifacts and workflows, including ADRs and target state documents.
• Ability to drive closure and influence across multiple stakeholders without formal authority.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive-ready communication.
• Strong organizational rigor with backlog, actions, owners, deadlines and traceability.
• Experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within architecture/engineering workflows.
• Ability to tackle operational and governance problems independently.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, AI tools and lightweight dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture governance process for Merchant Services Acquiring, including intake, triage, artifacts, routing and closure.
• Plan and run architecture review boards and forums with agendas, pre-reads, minutes and decisions.
• Maintain a clean, auditable decision record and ADRs for easy discovery and traceability.
• Maintain and improve architecture standards and guardrails, templates and NFR checklists.
• Run exception and waiver workflows with approvals, expiry, renewal and remediation tracking.
• Review architecture submissions for completeness, including NFRs, dependencies, resiliency, security and data.
• Partner with domain architects to improve content quality and promote reuse of patterns.
• Provide clear status and metrics on governance throughput for leadership visibility.
• Influence across product and engineering to reduce coordination overhead and improve decisions.
• Leverage enterprise AI capabilities with human-in-the-loop validation and data sensitivity awareness.
