Job summary

NewGround is seeking a Senior Architectural Specialist to lead the preparation of architectural construction documents and coordinate with outsourced teams across civil, mechanical, electrical, and interior disciplines.

You will support BIM management, guide design meetings, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with building regulations and project schedules. The role requires licensure and extensive experience in commercial architecture.

Qualifications

• Architectural license required.
• 10 years of professional experience in commercial architecture required.
• LEED AP credential preferred.
• WELL AP credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare working drawings.
• Coordinate with the Design Architect on the design of the project.
• Coordinate with Project Executives, Marketing and Business Development on project delivery.
• Project design lead in client design meetings during appropriate phases.
• Coordinate with local project AHJ’s.
• Submit drawings for permit and manage permit process through approval.
• Prepare clarification of project development documents.
• Assist in preparation of Contract Change Orders.
• Assist checking shop drawings, reviewing submittals and responding to RFI’s.
• Make field trips as necessary to verify information.
• Coordinate with engineering and specification writer.
• Assist in the preparation in specifications.
• Be knowledgeable on application of building regulations to projects.
• Function as detailer to the extent necessary to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
• Perform all other related work, as assigned or as apparent
• Assist Director of Production in mentoring junior staff.

The Senior Architectural Specialist will lead the preparation of architectural construction documents; coordinating and reviewing the work of outsourced (civil, mechanical, electrical and interior departments, as well as outsource consultants (structural and civil). Demonstrate a strong passion for construction documents and building detailing. Support BIM management across the studio.

GENERAL SKILLS

• Well versed knowledge of building codes and accessibility codes
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Proficient in Revit
• Proficiency in Speclink preferred
• Experience with multi-story buildings
• Proficiency in Procore is preferred

BIM Support

• Support the implementation of all BIM and related add-on software, parametric content, library files and templates throughout the preconstruction and construction phases of projects
• Work closely with the architecture, interior design, and external design partners to execute a project strategy and improve workflow to execute all BIM related duties for the project
• Guide and train in-house personnel to become proficient with all new add-on software along with technical orientation to new hires for the studio
• Manage and evaluate new tools and software updates for Revit and other related BIM software and interface with the IT department on hardware/software interactions and implementation of new or updated BIM products including, but not limited to, incorporating new version releases, maintaining legacy software, and customizing software for specific firm needs

• Supports the Director of Design Operations in the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES

• Architectural License required
• NCARB certification preferred
• Multiple State Architectural Licenses preferred
• 10 years of professional experience in commercial architecture required
• LEED AP credential preferred
• WELL AP credential preferred
