Job summary

HOK, a leader in design, is seeking an Architectural Specification Writer to join our team across Denver, Kansas City or St. Louis. The role writes and coordinates project specifications, ensuring accuracy, compliance with codes, and alignment with design intent.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of architectural practice, including at least 3 years in specification writing.
• Experience with large-scale or multiphase projects preferred.
• Licensed Architect and LEED credentials desirable.
• Experience with design-build delivery is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings to write and edit project specifications per codes, standards and design intent.
• Translate design and delivery requirements into materials, methods, and testing requirements.
• Coordinate procurement and contracting requirements, including Division 01 General Requirements.
• Support LEED or other sustainability certifications through material guidance.
• Collaborate with firm-wide specifications team for consistency and knowledge sharing.
• Assist with shop drawings and product substitution review.
• Contribute to Master Specifications content and regional content updates.
• Assist in integrating specifications into digital project delivery tools like Smartsheet.
