Job summary

Metra, the Chicago-area commuter rail system, seeks a Senior Architect to lead design reviews and capital projects for stations and parking facilities. You will oversee multi-disciplinary teams, ensure compliance with guidelines, and drive cost-effective solutions on complex projects.

Reporting to the Director of Stations and Parking within the Capital Delivery Department, you will manage budgets, schedules, and contract administration while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
Five years of Architectural or Civil design experience including project management.
Knowledge of building codes, zoning, accessibility and local, state, federal requirements for capital projects.
Familiarity with NEPA/Section 106/707; AREMA preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead project teams in review of architectural plans for compliance with guidelines and codes.
Monitor project progress; identify risks and manage budget, scope and schedule.
Prepare and manage project budgets and cost estimates; oversee consultants and contracts.
Lead contract administration: bids, negotiations, payments, vendor performance.
Promote safe work practices and a collaborative project environment.
Engage stakeholders to enable coordination across departments and external partners.
