Job summary

Metra is seeking a Senior Architect to lead design, construction, and renovation of station and parking facility projects in Northeastern Illinois. You will manage complex design efforts, ensure compliance with guidelines, codes, and budgets, and coordinate with in-house staff and consultants.

The role requires strong leadership, communications, and project-management skills, with deep knowledge of architectural design and contract administration across multiple capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Civil design is required.
• Minimum five years of architectural/civil design experience including project management.
• Strong knowledge of planning, design, procurement, and construction best practices.
• Experience with contract administration, budgets, and schedules.
• Understanding of building codes, zoning, accessibility, and NEPA/Section 106 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams in reviewing architectural plans for compliance with guidelines and codes.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and keep projects within budget and schedule.
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships for project coordination.
• Prepare budgets, cost estimates, and scopes of work.
• Oversee procurement, bids, contracts, and contractor performance.
