Job summary

LinkedIn's Data Infrastructure team seeks a Distinguished Engineer to lead Online Infrastructure and Databases, shaping scalable, high‑availability systems across online and offline data platforms.

You will mentor senior engineers, define roadmaps, collaborate with product and security teams, publish papers, and drive innovation while ensuring performance and reliability in a hybrid work model based in Mountain View, CA or Bellevue, WA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in software engineering with focus on infrastructure, distributed systems or databases.
• Master's or PhD preferred with track record of technical leadership.
• Proven leadership in building robust, scalable platforms and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of LinkedIn's Online Infrastructure and Databases; provide domain expertise and thought leadership.
• Lead cross-functional technical discussions to align product and technology strategies.
• Define and drive technical strategies and roadmaps translating requirements into architecture.
• Design scalable, resilient systems to support Data Infrastructure objectives.
• Establish best practices and standards for distributed databases and caching systems.
• Identify gaps and drive migration strategies for legacy systems.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.
• Represent LinkedIn as a thought leader by publishing papers and presenting at conferences.
