Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to lead complex cultural resource projects across the United States. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, mentor staff, and build client relationships while guiding regulatory compliance and project delivery in a dynamic consulting environment.

This leadership role requires a graduate degree in Anthropology or Archaeology, 8+ years of experience, ability to obtain permits, and strong reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field with 8+ years paid experience.
• Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits.
• Experience as primary author on agency-reviewed technical reports.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation.
• Proficient in permitting regulations (FERC, USACE, THC).
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Ability to manage teams and work independently with travel within the US.
• Demonstrated regional consulting experience and regulatory familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee literature review, field reconnaissance, surveys, and excavation.
• Provide technical consulting to grow ARCHAEOLOGY/CULTURAL RESOURCES business.
• Interact with ERM practice areas to share resources nationwide.
• Represent ERM with state, federal, and local agencies.
• Communicate regularly with clients via email and calls.
• Oversee and manage subcontractors and proposals.
• Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Lead, hire, and mentor personnel for the technical team.
• Capitalize on client relationships to expand market share.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deepen key client relationships.
• Participate in cross-office teams and fieldwork as needed.
