A leading archaeological consulting firm is seeking a Senior Archaeologist to manage Phase I-III fieldwork and conduct archaeological research in Virginia and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree in anthropology, over 8 years of experience, and skills in report writing and project management. The role involves working with clients and ensuring compliance with professional standards while contributing to business development. This position requires U.S. citizenship or a green card.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in archaeology.
• Must meet the Secretary of the Interiors Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
• Experience leading a project team from start to finish.
• Demonstrated skills in Phase I-III fieldwork.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Registered Professional Archaeologist (or ability to become registered).

Responsibilities

• Scheduling, managing, and conducting Phase I-III fieldwork.
• Writing archaeological reports under direction.
• Conducting archaeological fieldwork and identifying artifacts.
• Collecting data and field samples.
• Analyzing historic and pre-historic artifacts.
• Documenting methodologies and findings.
• Assisting in business development efforts.

Skills

Strong written and oral communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel

Familiarity with AutoCAD

Familiarity with MicroStation

Familiarity with ArcMap

Experience with federal agencies

Experience with Tribal Nations

Education

Masters Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or closely related field
