Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager to join our California Cultural Resources team. These are full-time, hybrid roles with openings in the Sacramento and Oakland offices.

The Senior Archaeologist leads field surveys, data collection, reporting, and regulatory compliance across California. Responsibilities include managing projects, coordinating with clients and agencies, supervising teams, and contributing to proposals and business development in Northern California,

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field.
• 6 years of relevant experience in historical and/or precontact archaeology and cultural resources management.
• Willing to travel throughout California.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects with field efforts (survey, testing, data recovery, monitoring) and schedules.
• Conduct archival research, report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and GIS mapping.
• Operate as primary author or senior reviewer on reports.
• Supervise personnel in the field, office, and laboratory.
• Interact with clients including agencies and private/local governments on projects as needed.
• Forecast, track, invoicing, and scheduling; complete AECOM’s project manager certification program.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and develop increased business in Northern California, especially Sacramento and Bay Area.
