Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to lead cultural resource projects across the United States. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, guide client relationships, and advance ERM's leadership in the Cultural Resources market.

The role combines technical leadership, project management, business development, and mentorship to deliver high-quality archaeological studies and regulatory compliance across multiple industries.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8+ years of related paid experience; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Ability to carry research to completion and obtain archaeological permits.
  • Experience leading inventory, survey, testing, or data recovery projects.
  • Authoring agency-reviewed technical reports and strong documentation skills.
  • Proficient with permitting regulations (e.g., FERC, USACE, THC).
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills; ability to develop business relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee archaeological studies and cultural resource projects from planning through completion.
  • Provide technical consulting to grow ERM's archaeology and cultural heritage business.
  • Interact with ERM practice areas to share multidisciplinary resources.
  • Represent ERM with state, federal, and local agencies; communicate with clients regularly.
  • Lead, hire, mentor staff; manage subcontractors and field teams.
  • Support proposals, manage scope, budget, and schedule while ensuring quality.
