Job summary

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - Arbitrations (SLC-A) to lead arbitration strategy and hearings, while collaborating with the Deputy General Counsel and directors on investigations and response matters.

The role requires significant arbitration experience, strong writing skills, and a commitment to trauma-informed practices. Denver, CO-based, with some remote eligibility for eligible states, and a starting salary in the range of $130,172 to $144,000, commensurate

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from accredited law school required.
• Licensed to practice or advise on legal matters in the United States.
• Member in good standing of at least one State Bar Association.
• Minimum five years of legal experience in law firm, corporate legal department, or equivalent.
• Strong litigation and trial background, including first-chair experience.
• Experience handling arbitrations and/or trials.
• Exceptional legal writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Handle arbitrations, including preparing strategy, presenting the Center's position at hearings, and challenging temporary measures or sanctions.
• Regularly communicate with claimants and witnesses under trauma-informed principles.
• Collaborate with Deputy General Counsel on responses to litigation and subpoenas, including coordination with outside counsel.
• Oversee governance functions and provide legal guidance on Center-wide initiatives affecting the Response and Resolution team.
• Identify applicable policies, determine interim measures, and review sanctions on investigations.
• Support decision-making across the Response & Resolution department and liaise with outside counsel.
• Provide proactive counsel on legal implications of pending matters and support paralegals for arbitration and litigation workflows.
