Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is seeking a Senior Aquatic Specialist to join the team at the Northern Regional Recreation Center. This full-time role plans, directs and delivers aquatic recreation and leisure programs, including swim lessons and water fitness, while helping supervise staff and partnering with the community.

Ideal candidates have leadership experience, Starfish Aquatics Institute certifications, and a CPO certification, with the ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor and

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver's license and county driving privileges; CPR/AED and First Aid; Lifeguard Certification; ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of activities in an aquatic environment, recreation center or park facility.
• Develop, evaluate and lead programs and activities in an aquatic facility, recreation center or park facility.
• Provide customer service and handle funds for information, registration, center usage and rentals.
• Supervise part-time and temporary employees, including scheduling and annual reviews.
• Monitor center budget, contracts and compliance.
• Coordinate a wide range of recreation programs for a diverse audience.
• Advertise programs via multiple channels and assist with department events.
