Job summary

Mecklenburg County Government seeks a Sr Aquatic Specialist based at Northern Regional Recreation Center. This full-time role develops, organizes and leads aquatic recreation programs, swim lessons and water fitness, while guiding staff and ensuring safety on pool decks.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, 2+ years of related experience, and lifeguard related certifications; willingness to obtain Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor within six months.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid NC/SC driver’s license and county driving privileges; CPR/AED and First Aid; Lifeguard Certification; ability to obtain Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of activities in an aquatic environment, recreation center or park facility.
• Develop, evaluate and lead programs and activities in an aquatic facility, recreation center or park facility.
• Provide customer service and handling of funds for information, program registrations, center usage and rentals.
• Supervise part-time and temporary employees, including scheduling, coaching and annual reviews.
• Assist with budget, contracts and compliance for the assigned center.
• Develop and coordinate a wide range of recreation and leisure programs for a diverse audience.
