Job summary

Amazon Leo is building a neurosymbolic reasoning platform to defend its global satellite constellation. We are seeking an Applied Scientist to be a founding member of the Leo Space Security R&D team, shaping problems and driving production-grade security models.

You will design scalable AI systems, run RL/LLM pipelines, and develop multi-agent defenses that triage, enrich, and contain security events, with impact across manufacturing, launch, and ground infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building machine learning models for business applications.
• PhD or Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
• Experience with graph algorithms, knowledge graphs, unsupervised learning, NLP, and embedding-based retrieval.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks for AI systems with human judgment, including staged rollouts, A/B testing, and expert feedback loops.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, production-grade neurosymbolic systems combining symbolic reasoning with LLM agents.
• Design and run reinforcement learning and fine-tuning pipelines (GRPO, PPO, DPO) to optimize language models for security tasks.
• Build behavioral and statistical models to detect threat actor behavior and evaluate performance before production.
• Design and build multi-agent systems that triage, enrich, and contain security events with safety guardrails.
• Own end-to-end science lifecycle from research to production deployment with measurable security impact.
• Contribute to publications, patents, or open-source efforts and shape the scientific agenda.
