Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join the Leo Infrastructure and IP Security team. The role focuses on building neurosymbolic security systems and agent-based platforms that protect the global satellite constellation and ground infrastructure.

You will own research to deployment, collaborating with security engineers to ship capabilities and drive measurable security impact at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building ML models for business applications.
• PhD or Master's with 6+ years applied research.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
• Experience with graph algorithms, knowledge graphs, unsupervised learning, NLP, and embedding-based retrieval.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks for AI systems with human judgment, including staged rollouts, A/B testing, and expert feedback loops.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, production-grade neurosymbolic systems integrating graph-based knowledge with LLM agents.
• Design and run reinforcement learning and fine-tuning pipelines to optimize language models for security reasoning and detection-authoring tasks.
• Build behavioral and statistical models to detect threat actor behavior and design evaluation frameworks for model performance.
• Design and build multi-agent systems that autonomously triage, enrich, and contain security events with guardrails and validation mechanisms.
• Own the end-to-end science lifecycle from research to production deployment, defining metrics for system performance and real-world impact.
• Advance the state of the art through publications, patents, or open-source contributions and shape the research culture.
