Job summary

Amazon Inc. is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist for Leo Space Security to be a founding scientist on the Engineering and R&D team.

You will build neurosymbolic systems and LLM-enabled agents to defend the Leo constellation; design evaluation frameworks and multi-agent workflows to ensure secure, scalable deployments. You will own the end-to-end science lifecycle from research to production and contribute to publications, patents, or open-source work while advancing security analytics and

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience.
• PhD, or Master’s degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
• Experience with graph algorithms, knowledge graphs, unsupervised learning, NLP, and embedding-based retrieval.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks for AI systems with ground truth requiring human judgment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable neurosymbolic systems that integrate symbolic reasoning over graph knowledge with LLM agents for secure outcomes.
• Design and run reinforcement learning and fine-tuning pipelines to optimize language models for security reasoning and detection tasks.
• Build behavioral and statistical models to detect threat actor behavior and evaluate performance before production.
• Design and build multi-agent systems that autonomously triage, enrich, and contain security events with safety guardrails.
• Own the end-to-end science lifecycle from research to production deployment, defining metrics for performance and impact.
• Publish and contribute to the scientific agenda and research culture from day one.
