Job summary

Capital One's AI Foundations team brings state-of-the-art AI to banking, partnering with product, technology and business leaders to apply advanced AI to customer experiences.

The Applied Researcher role collaborates with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to build AI foundation models, scale training, and translate research into real-world outcomes across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields (or MS plus 2 years applied research).
• PhD preferred for the listed fields; sponsorship possible for qualified applicants.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies (PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning) to reveal insights in large data.
• Build AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation, validation and implementation.
• Engage in high impact applied research to push AI into customer experiences.
