The Applied Researcher 4 will build large foundation models, optimize training and inference, and translate research into scalable customer experiences across Capital One's platforms.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, AI, Mathematics or related field, or MS with 2+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience building large deep learning models with emphasis on training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, RLHF.
• Experience delivering libraries or platform-level code for existing products.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with their money.
• Build and refine AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Advance applied research and translate novel methods into production-ready solutions.
• Collaborate with senior researchers to prepare internal reports or conference submissions.
• Translate complex research into tangible business goals.
