Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Engineer II-Applications (Software/Firmware) to partner with product teams and provide top-tier technical support for datacenter and server products.

You will help with design wins, production ramp, and issue resolution, working across North American and international customers, with travel as needed. Strong PCIe/NVMe and storage tech knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EE or CS with 7.5+ years of directly related experience.
• Strong understanding of PCIe/CXL, NVMe, SAS/SATA, SCSI, and storage technologies.
• Strong technical leadership and teamwork.
• Strong understanding of Web applications & customer service software.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customer facing experience.
• Experience with board-level debug.
• Experience with protocol analyzers/exercisers and logic analyzers.
• Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and locations.
• Tier 1 customer facing experience and ability to drive requirements through PM processes.
• Provide training to end customers, Microchip Applications and FAEs.
• Provide customer and field engineer support as needed.
• Must demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated.
• Independent but collaborative across locations.
• Creative with attention to detail; able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Support SAS/SATA/NVMe Protocol, RAID controller firmware, OS drivers, and management software.
• Support PCIe, security, and encryption technologies.
• Collaborate with Tier 1 OEMs/ODMs to define requirements and aid design wins.
• Coordinate with channel customers, ecosystem partners, and distribution.
• Publish and maintain system compatibility lists, software releases, and release notes.
• Maintain knowledge base and issue tracking database.
• Work independently or in a team environment.
• Root case and document customer issues, leading cross-functional teams.
• Develop and review customer/user documentation and training materials.
• Understand requirements and drive them through project management.
• Provide training to end customers, Microchip FAEs, and sales.
• Travel as needed within North America and internationally to customer sites.
