Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking an experienced Technical Support leader for a multi-faceted role in Santa Clara, CA. The position emphasizes customer-focused technical support, trial and demo activity, and education/training across PLM and R&D teams.

The role requires a strong background in optical communications and hands-on experience with transceivers, DWDM, OTN, and network protocols. Domestic travel is expected, and candidates should be prepared for on-site work in California.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics.
• 6+ years working experience in optical communication companies in roles such as technical support manager, engineer, development engineer or system verification engineer.
• Experience with coherent optical transceivers, DWDM, OTN, optical network architectures, and network management protocols.
• Experience investigating field issues and providing RMA support.
• Experience using and troubleshooting network management systems; coding in Python is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide quick response technical support for customer issues or inquiries.
• Work with internal teams to resolve issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Support PLM and Quality team customer interactions.
• Review product specifications and provide real-world feedback to new product development.
• Review and/or propose test scope and detailed plans; conduct pre-testing as needed; perform tests at customer sites.
