Job summary

TAR is building off-grid data center infrastructure powered by renewable tech in Austin, Texas. The Applications Engineer will own technical qualification for non-standard opportunities, translating field conditions into actionable electrical, thermal, and civil requirements, and linking them to $/MW, capex, and deployment schedule.

You will walk sites, assess generation, storage, and distribution, collaborate with development teams and partners, and provide clear go/no-go recommendations within

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with power experience.
• 10+ years in applications, pre-sales, or project development for data centers or critical infrastructure.
• Strong power systems background: MV/LV, utility service, protection, redundancy, NEC/IEEE.
• Cross-discipline fluency across thermal, civil, and site work to spot flaws and cost/schedule impact.
• Ability to travel regularly for site walks and partner meetings.

Responsibilities

• Build and own TAR's technical qualification framework for non-standard opportunities.
• Make final technical fit/no-fit calls on sites and deals with incomplete information.
• Link technical recommendations to commercial outcomes: $/MW, capex, deployment schedule.
• Serve as technical escalation point for non-standard opportunities and define additional requirements.
• Walk sites with development teams to translate field conditions into technical requirements.
