Job summary

TAR is building renewable-powered, off-grid data center infrastructure. The Applications Engineer owns the non-standard opportunity qualification framework and makes final fit/no-fit decisions with direct insights into $/MW, capex, and deployment timelines.

You will translate field conditions into technical and execution requirements, collaborating with development, business development, and partner teams to drive viable opportunities and informed risk assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with hands-on electrical power experience.
  • 10+ years in applications, solutions, or pre-sales engineering, owner's engineering, or project development for data centers or critical infrastructure.
  • Strong electrical power systems background: MV/LV distribution, utility service, protection and redundancy.
  • Cross-disciplinary fluency across thermal, civil, site work, and deployment.
  • Ability to translate conditions into capex, $/MW, and schedule impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; travel readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own TAR's technical qualification framework for non-standard opportunities: the criteria, screening tools, and decision gates that determine viability for TAR to execute across power, civil, and deployment constraints.
  • Make the final technical fit/no-fit call on sites and deals, often on incomplete information, and deliver defensible recommendations with clear assumptions, risks, and conditions.
  • Tie every technical recommendation to its commercial consequence, including $/MW, capex, and deployment schedule, for pricing and commitments.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for development, business development, and partner teams on non-standard opportunities.
  • Walk sites with development teams and translate field conditions into concrete technical and execution requirements.
  • Assess electrical fit end to end, from generation to islanded operation and MV/LV distribution, including power quality and redundancy.
  • Test opportunities against TAR's execution capability, flagging binding constraints.
  • Feed learnings back into TAR's standard designs and playbooks to close recurring gaps.
