Job summary

Hanwha Power Houston Inc. is hiring a Senior Applications Engineer to lead pre-sales activities for centrifugal compressor solutions and interface with global clients. You will develop technically robust proposals, perform feasibility analyses, and ensure designs meet API/ASME/ISO standards.

The role demands deep compressor knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with Sales, R&D, and Product Management while traveling to support customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in applications engineering or technical sales support, with a focus on centrifugal compressors.
• Deep knowledge of compressor performance curves, thermodynamics and system integration.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards (API 672 & 617, ASME, ISO).
• Strong verbal and written communication, including proposal writing and customer interaction.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~15–25%).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead in pre-sales and proposal development for compressor solutions, including feasibility analysis, product selection, and system design.
• Collaborate with Sales, R&D, and Product Management to align customer requirements with product capabilities.
• Develop and review technical proposals, specifications, performance data, and cost estimates for centrifugal compressors.
• Evaluate inquiries and provide technically and commercially competitive solutions.
• Support customer meetings, presentations, and technical discussions as a subject matter expert.
• Lead review and clarification of customer specifications and ensure compliance with API 672 & 617, ASME, ISO, etc.
• Provide engineering input for project execution teams during order fulfillment, including final design reviews and documentation.
• Analyze performance data, simulations, and requirements to optimize compressor system performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and share application best practices.
