Job summary

M1 Technology, LLC is seeking an Applications/DevOps Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA. You will help build scalable, secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, design robust CI/CD pipelines, and develop automation tools that streamline deployment and operations.

As a core team member, you will work at the intersection of software development and mission support, applying DevOps best practices, IaC, and container orchestration to deliver reliable solutions for government and commercial clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of AWS experience with CloudFormation and AWS SDKs such as Ruby, Python, Java.
• 5+ years of object-oriented programming (Ruby, Python, Java, or NodeJS).
• Experience with Jenkins and building pipelines; knowledge of CI/CD best practices.
• 1–2 years of Docker and container orchestration (Docker Compose, ECS).
• 5 years of Bash scripting experience.
• 2+ years of GitHub usage and branching strategies.
• Team player with ability to collaborate across teams and mentor peers.

Responsibilities

• Provision, manage, and optimize AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS) using CloudFormation.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Groovy; develop shared Jenkins libraries.
• Develop automation tools/scripts using Ruby, Python, or NodeJS to streamline tasks.
• Architect and manage containerized apps with Docker; implement orchestration via ECS or Docker Compose.
• Utilize Puppet to automate software installations and configurations.
• Provide AWS architectural guidance to teams for efficient cloud usage.
• Bridge software engineering and systems administration to ensure infrastructure reliability.
• Foster collaboration and mentor peers in a dynamic environment.
