Senior Applications Development Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Applications Development Engineer is a key member of the Applications Development Team, leading large-scale custom application projects. This role involves full-cycle application design and development, from planning to delivery, documentation, troubleshooting, and end-user training. The Senior Engineer also mentors the development team on solutions, architecture, research, best practices, and new technologies, taking leadership of their projects and maintaining awareness of all custom applications used by the firm.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale custom application development projects through the entire implementation lifecycle, utilizing project management processes, techniques, and tools, including project planning, requirement gathering, team meetings, issue documentation, and risk management.
• Research, design, and develop new software programs of varying complexity; analyze and enhance existing applications by identifying areas for improvement.
• Explore emerging technologies and best practices to keep the application stack cutting-edge, including researching programming patterns, frameworks, and custom libraries.
• Provide technical mentorship to the development team on solutions, architecture, research, and best practices.
• Develop code review standards to ensure high-quality code before deployment.
• Diagnose and resolve system problems based on system knowledge.
• Create detailed documentation for all implemented applications.
• Evaluate and prioritize ongoing projects.
• Recommend improvements to increase the quality and efficiency of services and applications.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required; equivalent training and experience may be considered.

Experience

• At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible, related experience demonstrating relevant skills and abilities.
• Experience mentoring developers on solutions, architecture, research, and new technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of client-side web development using Angular, NgRx, and related frameworks.
• Proficiency with Node.js and related frameworks.
• Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar version control platforms.

• Mentoring and training developers on complex technical issues.
