Job summary

SensoPart Industriesensorik GmbH seeks an experienced Application Engineer for its US headquarters in Troy, Michigan. The role combines technical vision-sensor expertise with hands-on problem solving and direct customer interaction.

Responsibilities include evaluating applications, developing PLC/robot integrations, and supporting installation and training across customer sites. Travel of 20–30% is expected; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Experience with machine vision systems or optical sensors is required.
• Extensive experience in factory automation or similar environments.
• Hands-on robot programming experience (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, UR).
• Experience in PLC programming is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in customer-facing technical situations.
• Clear communication skills and a structured working style.
• Willingness to travel 20–30%.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer applications and feasibility studies using SensoPart vision systems.
• Develop and validate technical solutions for PLC- and robot-controlled environments.
• Support customers during implementation and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot applications remotely and on-site.
• Deliver technical training and product demonstrations to customers and distributors.
• Build trade show demo systems and support technical marketing initiatives.
• Collaborate with our engineering team in Germany on complex topics.
