Baker Hughes in Texas is seeking a Sr Application Engineer – Technology Specialist to provide technical support to Field Sales, analyze customer requirements, and develop optimized gearbox configurations. You will collaborate with engineering, sales, and commercial teams to deliver technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.

The role emphasizes cost analysis, pricing strategies, and creating complete proposal packages while traveling up to 15% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering plus 2–4 years of experience.
• Extensive Lufkin Gears product line domain knowledge.
• Experience with CAD software and MS Office.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% for customer/internal meetings.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and installation drawings for product selection.
• Select existing designs meeting specs, AGMA/LUFKIN standards and APIs.
• Configure new gear arrangements or modify designs using LUFKIN methods.
• Develop proposals with pricing, drawings, data sheets, specs, and plans.
• Support Field Sales with proposals, communications, and presentations.
• Participate in negotiations covering technical and commercial aspects.
• Provide commercial insights during deal reviews and cost analyses.
• Support handovers to Project Management with pricing and scope details.
• Coordinate with vendors for proposals and cost libraries.
• Assist with training and onboarding for new employees.
