Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Sr Application Engineer – Technology Specialist in Lufkin to provide technical support to Field Sales, analyze customer requirements, and craft optimized gearbox configurations. You will collaborate across engineering, sales, project management, and commercial teams to deliver technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.

You will review specifications, select existing designs that meet standards, and configure new gear arrangements when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, plus 2–4 years of experience or equivalent combination.
• Extensive LUFKIN Gears domain expertise and CAD experience.
• Experience with CAD software and ability to interpret installation drawings and specifications.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% to support customers or internal meetings.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements, operating conditions, specs, and drawings to determine product selection parameters.
• Identify designs meeting performance and applicable standards (AGMA, LUFKIN, API, ABS, ISO, DNV).
• Configure gear arrangements or modify designs using LUFKIN methods when needed.
• Develop complete proposal packages with pricing, drawings, data sheets, specs, and QA plans.
• Support Field Sales with proposals, customer communications, and technical presentations.
• Participate in negotiations involving technical, commercial, and contractual aspects.
• Provide commercial insights during deal reviews and communicate pricing assumptions to project teams.
