Job summary

Hyson engages Force Motion Group to design and quote engineered solutions for customer applications. The Application Engineer works directly with customers to translate requirements into precise specifications and quotes for manufacturing execution.

The role supports complex installations, mentors teammates, and ensures compliance with engineering principles and contract requirements while collaborating across engineering, sales, and production teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in manufacturing or product engineering, incl. tooling/fixture design using 3D CAD.
• Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer drawings, specifications, procedures, and standards.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain complex ideas to customers.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines.
• Work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
• Customer service focus with effective interaction across levels in the organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• CAMWorks or Esprit programming experience preferred.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or co-ops preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with local and global customers to understand their technical requirements and goals.
• Design and develop application solutions and quotes that are accurate and manufacturable.
• Support product sales with technical guidance to customers and the sales team.
• Review product designs for engineering principles, standards, and contract requirements.
• Develop technical specs and drawings, identifying critical-to-quality features.
• Collaborate with management, service, sales, and manufacturing to meet customer needs.
• Apply APQP practices to design quality into products from the start.
• Work with manufacturing to leverage equipment and capabilities for new products and reviews.
• Prepare clear customer instructions and support installations and testing.
• Identify lean opportunities to modularize designs and reduce quoting effort.
• Define processes and standards for 3D CAD usage to ensure consistency.
• Mentor team members and co-ops to build engineering capability.
