Job summary

Mollie is seeking a Senior Engineer to build scalable financial products and help expand into new markets, delivering high-volume transaction systems. You will contribute to Mollie's evolving platform, including Mollie Capital and in-person payments, while shaping the architecture and product roadmap.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence while partnering with product and stakeholders to ship value quickly and reliably across our platforms.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in developing large-scale applications.
• Proficiency in PHP or Java, with Go, C#, or Python valued.

What You will Be Doing:

• Building Large-Scale Systems: Designing and engineering systems that can scale to handle high volumes of transactions.


• Developing Products Our Customers Love: Iterating from an idea to the final solution, shaping, building, testing, and measuring the performance of the features our customers love.


• Mentorship: Providing guidance and support to junior team members, fostering their growth through mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and hands-on collaboration.


• Tech Leadership: Leading technical initiatives from architecture design to implementation, ensuring engineering excellence.


• Problem-Solving: Utilising your creative problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to resolve complex issues and contribute to our mission of making financial processes effortless.


• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Creating comprehensive documentation to facilitate domain knowledge sharing and set up optimised processes.

What You’ll Bring:

• 6+ years of experience in developing large-scale applications, preferably with PHP or Java. Experience with Go, C#, or Python is also valued but you are willing to work with PHP or Java.


• Proven experience in leading architectural decisions and technical initiatives, delivering end-to-end solutions, and optimising processes.


• Experience in mentoring junior developers and implementing strategies to drive team growth and skill development.


• Excellent communication skills, with experience working effectively with various stakeholders. Can explain complex problems and solutions in simple terms.


• Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to shape ideas with a product-first approach, as well as analyse and resolve complex issues.


• Ability to hold yourself accountable for your tasks, and show a willingness to proactively identify and improve things, whether technical or business related.
