Job summary

White Cap is seeking an experienced civil/structural engineer to lead the design and review of concrete formwork and shoring layouts for diverse projects in Pleasanton, CA.

You will develop detailed drawings in AutoCAD or Revit, perform structural calculations, prepare materials lists, and collaborate with construction, sales, and operations to ensure safe, feasible solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in civil or structural engineering; 5–8 years in related field or MS/MA with 3–5 years experience.
• Certification is required in some areas.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering; EIT certification within 2 years.
• PE license strongly preferred; three years under a registered PE.
• 2+ years in formwork and shoring design; OSHA and building code knowledge.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and 3D modeling preferred; excellent communication skills.

• Provides technical input to sales and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Attends customer meetings during and after the sales process to support design alignment.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural Engineering

EIT certification or ability to obtain within 2 years

Major Tasks, Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities

• Develops detailed formwork and shoring drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Performs structural calculations to validate load capacities and ensure safety.
• Prepares bills of material and review peer designs for accuracy and optimization.
• Applies civil engineering principles to plan and lay out formwork and shoring systems based on inventory, schedule, cost, and customer requirements.
• Collaborates with construction teams to ensure effective implementation of designs.
• Provides technical input to sales and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Attends customer meetings during and after the sales process to support technical discussions and design alignment.

Nature and Scope

• Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
• Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
• May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

• Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Education And Experience

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural Engineering. EIT certification or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. Three (3) years under a registered Professional Engineer.
• 2+ years of experience in formwork and shoring design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and 3D modeling experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of OSHA and building code requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
