Application Engineer
Omaha, NE area and nearby states region
This position will be home-based and requires daily travel to local customer sites within the geographical region. There is the potential for 50-60% travel outside the region, as needed. All expenses are covered and a company credit card is provided. This position might be eligible for a Fleet vehicle (determined by hiring manager and based upon meeting mileage criteria). U.S. Citizenship is Required - Candidate must be able to obtain necessary clearance and/or credentials as required. The types of clearances could include, but are not limited to, Homeland Security clearance, background and credit checks, and more.

What will you do?

1. Focus on the deployment of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) at data center facilities.
2. Customer-facing position - the successful candidate must work well in a team environment and will interface directly with contractors and end-users daily.
3. Responsibilities include performing software installation, customization, start-up services, commissioning, troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring equipment, device communications, and providing customer training.
4. Consult with customers to determine system operation requirements.
5. Install and upgrade EPMS software.
6. Configure and commission Schneider Electric and 3rd party hardware.
7. Perform start-up services and system troubleshooting.
8. Document the as-built system.
9. Daily commuting to customer sites is required, with the majority of travel being domestic and occasional international opportunities.

What qualifications will make you successful?

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with electrical fundamentals and electrical equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot network communications (IP addresses, device discovery).
• Ability to interpret contract specifications and electrical/mechanical drawings.
• Willingness to travel regionally and out of state as needed (50-60%).
• Stable work history.
• Excellent communication skills, team-oriented, self-motivated, results-driven.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation, Systems Integration, or Energy Management Systems.
• Experience with electrical equipment like switchgear, generators, UPS systems.
• Understanding of power generation, distribution, and quality concepts.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, IEC, BACnet).
• Knowledge of computer networking, programming languages, databases, and HTML.
• HMI configuration and graphical screen development experience.
• Experience with Schneider Electric software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, Wonderware.

• First 3-4 weeks involve online training and safety classes, followed by on-the-job training with a peer.
• Job sites vary depending on client demand, including commercial, industrial, critical infrastructure, data centers, and government facilities.
