Job summary

VSE Aviation is seeking a Senior Application Developer to lead major application programs and multiple concurrent projects. This role designs, develops, and maintains full-stack applications, solving complex problems with deep system integration, and drives delivery with minimal direction.

Responsibilities include leading technical design, coding across the stack, database optimization, and ensuring security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; 6 years of relevant experience.
• Expert knowledge of T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.
• 3 years of experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
• 3 years of experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Analysis Services.
• Experience designing and developing APIs and system integrations.
• Demonstrated experience serving as technical lead on major programs or multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of major custom applications and integrations.
• Write, review, and maintain code across the full stack (T-SQL, SQL Server, HTML, JavaScript).
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and reports (SSRS/SSAS).
• Lead refactoring and modernization and set coding standards.
• Ensure applications meet security standards and data protection.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor other developers.
• Manage code repository and participate in release processes including unit testing.
• Provide after-hours support and root-cause troubleshooting.
