Job summary

Koniag Emerging Technologies, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks an Application Architect with a Secret clearance to support KET and our government customer in Washington, DC. The role requires architecture leadership across a diverse portfolio, modernization initiatives, and hands-on guidance across security, DevSecOps, and cloud-native transitions.

Qualifications

• Citizenship in the US and a Secret clearance.
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in application architecture, software engineering, or enterprise modernization.
• At least 12+ years with hands-on coding in 3+ languages (e.g., .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Oracle PL/SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell).
• 5+ years in Azure DevOps for CI/CD and YAML pipelines.
• 5+ years of experience with static application security testing (SAST) tools (Fortify) in secure SDLC.
• 1–2+ years applying AI coding assistants or agentic AI tooling in development workflows.
• Proven experience leading large-scale, distributed systems architecture.
• Experience operating in SAFe or scaled Agile environments.
• Experience with one or more cloud platforms and containers (Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, serverless).

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee enterprise application architectures aligned with security policies and interoperability standards.
• Develop roadmaps and reference architectures for new applications ensuring scalability and compliance.
• Lead architecture reviews and enforce standards across development teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate mission requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Enable DevSecOps through CI/CD, security validation, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Ensure alignment with federal security/compliance requirements (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, Zero Trust, MFA, ATO).
• Evaluate emerging technologies and cloud patterns to modernize Department applications.
• Conduct system integration analyses for data exchanges and APIs.
• Guide modernization of legacy on-premises systems to cloud-enabled apps.
• Mentor developers on architectural principles and secure SDLC practices.
• Produce architectural documentation to support governance and audits.
• Troubleshoot complex issues with development and operations teams.
