Job summary

Premera Blue Cross seeks a Software Development Engineer III – Appian Developer to join the Corporate Services and Digital Automation Engineering team in a hybrid role. You will design and evolve enterprise workflow automation using Appian, AI-powered automation, and cloud integrations to enhance operations across Appeals and Prior Authorization.

The ideal candidate has a hands-on engineering mindset, strong SDLC knowledge, and a passion for automation and healthcare technology.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems.
5+ years of software development experience and knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
Appian experience strongly preferred.
Experience in Agile environments; healthcare industry exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support enterprise workflow automation solutions using Appian, Microsoft technologies, and related platforms.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Analysts, Architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
Deliver complex process automation initiatives including case management and integrations.
Develop and maintain integrations using RESTful APIs and web services.
Leverage Appian AI to improve classification, extraction, and routing.
Provide engineering guidance and drive best practices across projects.
Lead code reviews, performance tuning, and production support activities.
Promote reusable components and platform governance.
