Job summary

Premera Blue Cross in Washington state seeks a Software Development Engineer IV – Appian Developer to lead the design and evolution of enterprise workflow automation solutions. The role focuses on Appian-driven automation across Appeals, Prior Authorization, and other healthcare operations, leveraging AI-powered automation and cloud-based integrations.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on engineering experience, strong leadership, and a passion for innovative healthcare technology.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is required.
Eight or more years of relevant experience with software development lifecycle.
Appian experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with business process automation and healthcare environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support enterprise workflow automation solutions using Appian, Microsoft technologies, and related automation platforms.
Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Lead the delivery of complex business process automation initiatives, including case management, workflow orchestration, and system integrations.
Develop and maintain integrations with internal and external systems using RESTful APIs and web services.
Leverage Appian AI capabilities to improve classification, extraction, summarization, routing, and decision-support processes.
