Job summary

First Citizens is seeking a senior Appian Engineer to drive the design, development, and support of enterprise Appian applications. This remote role can be hired across the United States and requires hands-on delivery leadership, setting technical standards, and mentoring multiple delivery teams.

You will work with business, architecture, infrastructure, and security to deliver scalable, secure Appian solutions, including complex process models, integrations, and CI/CD processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance
• OR
• High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise Appian applications.
• Serve as the technical lead for Appian delivery teams, providing day‑to‑day technical direction and code leadership.
• Design scalable process models, interfaces, records, reports, integrations, and reusable components using Appian best practices.
• Develop complex Appian solutions utilizing SAIL, Records, Process Models, Expression Rules, Decision Rules, Integration Objects, Connected Systems, Plug‑ins, and Web APIs.
• Build and maintain integrations with REST, SOAP, databases, MQ, and enterprise systems.
• Perform code reviews and enforce development standards, security requirements, and Appian best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide root cause analysis and long‑term remediation.
• Lead release management activities including CI/CD, deployment automation, and environment management.
• Collaborate with solution architects, business analysts, infrastructure, and security teams throughout project delivery.
• Mentor Appian developers and establish development standards across multiple delivery teams.
• Participate in architecture reviews, estimation, technical planning, and solution design.
• Support production applications through defect resolution, performance tuning, and platform optimization.
