Job summary

Lincoln Financial Group is seeking a Platform Standards & API Lead to translate target cloud and AI architectures into engineering standards, APIs, and self-service tooling. You will own the API/data-contract lifecycle and drive governance, security patterns, and incident resolution across teams and vendors.

You will build templates, onboarding paths, and observability tooling while mentoring engineers on API design and standards adoption, reporting on adoption and health to leadership.

Qualifications

• 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
• 5+ years in API/platform architecture roles
• Experience with data-contract patterns, schema governance, versioning/deprecation policy, and REST API design at enterprise scale
• Strong Python skills and working knowledge of cloud data services (Glue, Lake Formation, Athena) and AI/agent stacks (Bedrock, AgentCore, MCP)
• Able to work from a target architecture and turn it into rules developers actually follow

Responsibilities

• Author and maintain the platform's data/API engineering standards: endpoint design, data-contract shape, versioning and deprecation policy
• Own the Data Contracts standard (publish/consume model) for data products
• Establish governance for secure access to enterprise data and models, including MCP patterns
• Define guardrails to prevent data leakage and ensure platform controls
• Build self-service developer tooling for standards adoption
• Own intake and triage for standards violations, incidents, and integration issues
• Report standards adoption, API health, and incident trends to leadership
• Partner with governance/catalog teams to satisfy governance requirements
• Mentor engineers on API design and standards adoption
