Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior API Platform Engineer to act as a technical SME for enterprise API ecosystem, leading efforts across Apigee OPDK, Apigee Hybrid on Azure, and Apollo GraphQL. You will design secure, scalable gateway solutions and guide modernization initiatives.

The role requires 7+ years in IT and hands-on experience with API security (OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS) and cloud-native platforms. Hybrid work model with multiple benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 7+ years in a total IT environment with design, development and support of technology infrastructure.
• Experience with Apigee OPDK (On-Prem) and Apigee Hybrid on Azure AKS/Kubernetes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical SME for enterprise API ecosystem across Apigee, GraphQL and related platforms.
• Design secure, scalable API gateway solutions for critical business apps.
• Lead API platform modernization and cloud-native adoption.
• Drive GraphQL strategy using Apollo Federation, Router, and governance.
• Implement API security controls (OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, traffic management).
• Automate deployments and operations with GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and IaC.
• Improve reliability via monitoring, observability, incident response, and capacity planning.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Architects, Security, Infra, and Dev teams.
